What is Extremist Gaming?

Extremist Gaming (ExtremistGaming.com)  is a group of video gamers working together to build new games that we want to play. Founded by Some Chud to build the educational game Syn Inquisition that teaches news reporting, journalistic ethics, and technical skills around it to prospective students.

Somewhere between a supra-hierarchical structure of a typical corporation (Google) and the communistic-flat coop structure (Second Wind Group), our management structure is more akin to what might be found upon the Queen Anne’s Revenge. Every man on board is equal, even the captain. The captain exists to be the spear tip for the crews collective vision and serves as benevolent dictator. The crew can overthrow the captain if he is not fit to lead the crew to accomplish their goals. The captain ought to be an individual who can do all crew roles and lead through example. 

Can Flat Management Work?

Absolutely! Gabe Newell used a similar structure for Valve -- there were no managers, just him. All work was self directed by the employees who even got to choose what projects they were working on.
